The first cuneese, which was made with rum, was invented by Andrea Arione, first owner of the homonymous shop-bar in Cuneo, who decided to protect his creation by registering it with the Business Trademark Patent. Today, this chocolate is imitated throughout the province, but the original recipe is kept by the owners of the Arione shop-bar.
